300’s Challenge!
At the moment I’ve got the problem I start work at 7:30am so if I choose to do an evening session it often means the kids are asleep when I leave the house & asleep when I get home.
Hence I’ve been at a loss how to train effectively since my grading in October (I hate only training a little bit)! So I’ve thought of a SMART goal for myself and anyone else who wants to up their training… or it might work for others who are lacking motivation or can’t make traditional classes!
300’s club (or maybe yours will be 200’s or 100’s!) Starting this week and until 31 December I’m doing 300 pushups, 300 situps & 300 squats at least once a week (keep a tally… and if you can only do it once a week be sure to do some fraction of your total on the other days for ‘training’). 300 might mean 100 in the morning, 100 at lunch time and 100 at night or, as I tested on Friday last, 300 in one session (makes functioning the next day a bit tricky). It does hurt but it’s a nice hurt! Don’t let the pain stop you doing it again, it feels better as you get warm!
But thats not all! If you do 15 rounds of sparring every week between now and 31 December that’ll be 300 rounds of sparring!!! That’s totally do-able and almost as much as Jamie and Thelvin did in the first half of this year… and they’re both National champs so there must be something in it!
Friday night is a great way to get 15 rounds in or, if the classes you’re attending don’t give you 15 rounds grab someone before or after class to keep your tally up! (Or txt me on 027 4444192 to hook up for day time sparring in a secret location in the middle of town) . Gambatte!
